Follow-up on the Leadership Enhancement and Animation Program (LEAP) for Jesuit School Leaders in South Asian Conference

Why LEAP?

The world is now a global village that demands school administrators to be abreast with the changes and challenges; relevant responses and appropriate actions in their overall environment. Education systems and institutions have been going through dramatic shifts in the way they are managed and administered. Speed of obsolescence is driving the monopoly of education under a few institutions and those not innovating or changing constantly may have to struggle to stay relevant in order to be in existence. Institutions will flourish or perish in tune with the relevant changes they make.

In this context, leadership is of vital importance to stay relevant and meaningful. The heads of schools give protection, correction and direction to schools. LEAP aimed to foster and strengthen the capacity of our school leaders to be efficient and effective; creative and innovative to stay relevant in these changing and turbulent times. School leaders need to build their capacity to keep them abreast with the challenges in the administration of the schools, pedagogy and curriculum implementation. They have to acquire the latest skills, competencies and relevant knowledge essential to enhance their professionalism in administration. Hence, LEAP was evolved and implemented. The main objectives are the following:

  • To enhance and strengthen the passion, charisma and commitment among our school leaders
  • To bring in well-established professionalism in the administration
  • To help the school leaders to update themselves with the latest trends, practices, rules and regulations
  • To motivate them to actively get involved in and thus promote advocacy, collaboration and networking
  • To enhance and ensure the Jesuit Characteristics and traits in our schools
  • To help the school leaders to read the signs of the times and act accordingly
  • To make Jesuit education more relevant and fruitful
  • To facilitate better accompaniment of staff and students
Expected Outcomes
  • Empowered school leader in order to empower the staff, students and parents
  • Professionally competent as a school leader
  • Better coordination among all the stake holders
  • School leader becoming a pedagogical leader
  • School leader becoming a more of animator than administrator
  • School leader becoming a catalyst to promote human excellence rather than just academic excellence
  • Competent school leader to promote conducive school climate
  • School leader who believes in value-based and person-oriented education
Follow-up

The reports were collated by the Conference Secretary and a Common Minimum Program (CMP) containing five activities was designed for each province/region. An official letter has been sent to all PCEs/RCEs from the Secretariat in April, 2023.
  • During the forthcoming annual meeting of PCEs/RCEs in October, 2023 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the Province/region Coordinators will /region present an action report of CMP in their province.
  • During the official visit of the Secretary to Provinces/Regions, he will assess the implementation of CMP in their institutions.
  • An interactive web portal is being designed at the Conference level (under construction) for follow-up actions like further training of school leaders, staff and senior students, sharing of good practices, etc.
