Attention! New Connected Classrooms dialogue about environmental and human rights challenges affecting our countries

Erik Bylund and David Chamorro, teachers at «Colegio San Ignacio Alonso Ovalle» school in Chile, would like to invite teachers from our global community and their students to participate in two Connected Classrooms. The first virtual class will cover human rights issues that are affecting the participants’ countries, and it’s called «Global Voices for Human Rights». The second one, «Global Voices for a Sustainable Future», will tackle environmental issues affecting different countries.

Each Connected Classroom will be an international gathering where students will be able to exchange the current situation in their countries with regard to environmental and human rights issues.

The aim is to bring together young people from our Jesuit schools around the world to contribute their unique experiences, knowledge, and approaches to these issues. The exchange of ideas with peers from diverse backgrounds can lead to innovative solutions and a deeper understanding of these complex issues.

About the Connected Classroom – «Global Voices for Human Rights»

On December 10, 2023, the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, where the rights and freedoms of all human beings were enshrined, will be celebrated to mark the importance of one of the world’s most groundbreaking global pledges. This declaration has had far-reaching consequences and led to the adoption of more than 70 treaties on human rights around the world. However, in today’s globalized world, despite all its technological achievements, human rights violations continue to plague humanity, be it war crimes, the criminalizing of freedom of expression, or discrimination against migrants, etc.

The Connected Classroom «Global Voices for Human Rights» is a multidisciplinary activity, ideal for a wide range of subjects such as Political Science, History, Social Science, Civic Education, Philosophy, English, etc., as well as teachers and students interested in politics and human rights in general.
