In a unit about WWII, most U.S. History teachers already teach about the influence of propaganda that encouraged all Americans to do their part on the homefront. This lesson leverages that historical context to inspire students to create their own propaganda for the 21st century’s great challenge: climate change. Using all elements of the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm, the lesson will end with students sending their propaganda poster to an authentic audience of a local company that has committed itself to being a part of the solution to climate change as signatories of the We Are Still In Campaign. This lesson plan has been shared by Emily Keller and Malia Bernards, Jesuit High School Portland. Please feel free to email them if you have any questions.
