Invitation to Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice in Washington DC in Nov. 2016

Ignatian Teach-inFor nearly twenty years, Jesuit institutions in the U.S. have been sending delegations of students and faculty to the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice. The Teach-In is a 3-day faith-based social justice conference intended to create greater unity among the Jesuit network that leads to more collaborative social justice education and advocacy efforts. The Teach-In happens yearly on or around the anniversary of the murders of the Jesuits and their lay companions at the University of Central America in San Salvador, El Salvador. The gathering is sponsored by the Ignatian Solidarity Network, a national Ignatian-based social justice education and advocacy organization that partners with Jesuit universities, secondary schools, churches, etc. to animate collaborative efforts for justice.

Attendees come from more than 100 Catholic institutions across the U.S., including delegations from nearly 40 Jesuit and Ignatian high schools across the country. While the vast majority of attendees are from the U.S., we have begun to welcome a greater number of delegations from outside the U.S., including Jesuit secondary schools from Canada and Mexico. In this spirit, I wanted to share the opportunity with the global Jesuit secondary education network to feel welcome to consider joining us in November 2016 or in a future year.  The dates for 2016 are November 12-14, 2016.
