Cura Personalis in the Crisis – How Can We Take Care of Ourselves and Our Students?

Here you can find the recording of the “Cura Personalis in the Crisis – A Global Ignatian Webinar for Educators”.

Jesuit schools around the world are faced with new challenges in keeping cura personalis at the centre of their work as they connect with colleagues and students in a different way. With this in mind how can we take care of ourselves and our students? What can our Ignatian Spirituality teach us about this?

Irish Jesuit, Brendan McManus, a former teacher who has written widely on Ignatian spirituality and mental health, offers his Ignatian tips for teachers adapting to the Covid 19 crisis. Based on the Spiritual Exercises, he explained how self care is fundamental to being able to teach well in the crisis and how we can better take care of students. He also explained how emotional awareness, discernment of spirits, agere contra (acting against), and good decision making are key in finding a way forward.
