The first week of January saw 124 young girls and boys return to the campus of Loyola Jesuit Secondary School (LJSS) in Kasungu, Malawi.  Second Term opened for 62 girls and 62 boys (good gender balance!) for more Jesuit education in skills and values.  All are boarders.

We have six men and five women assigned and paid by the Government of Malawi as teachers.  And three Jesuits fill positions of Head Teacher, Chaplain, and Assistant Boarding Master.  All three are also teaching.  And of course we have several good secretaries, cooks, guards and maintenance workers.  A busy place indeed is LJSS.

In the weeks ahead we will have some retreats and workshops to help all of our LJSS community appreciate our Jesuit Pedagogy of preparing youth to be “women and men with and for others.”
