Dear Colleague, 

It is my pleasure to write to you as the Headmaster of Mount St Mary’s College, a Jesuit day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18 years of age in the United Kingdom. This year we are celebrating our 175th anniversary and as we look forward to the future with confidence and ambition, we are also reflecting on our true identity and ensuring our plans are firmly rooted in our founding Ignatian principles.

One defining feature of our school is our delivery of a UK based academic curriculum to a student population which is at least 80% British. The majority of our students live in the local area and this, combined with our location in the heart of the beautiful English countryside, ensures that students receive a very authentic British education. A smaller number of our English students board with us either permanently or during the week. They are joined in our thriving boarding community by students from across the globe, many from other Jesuit schools.

We currently have students from 19 different countries. Some of these students are with us for the whole of their school lives, whilst others take the opportunity to spend a term, a semester or an academic year with us. Not only is this a wonderful opportunity for students to improve their English, particularly with the help of our specialist EAL teachers, but they are fully integrated into our classrooms where the maximum class size is 20 (smaller in the higher years of study).

I would be extremely pleased if you might discuss Mount St Mary’s College with any of your students who are currently considering the option of studying abroad for a period of time. By working directly with other Jesuit Schools, we are able to ensure there is a close partnership. Our experience of this channel has been very positive and we would be keen to develop this type of partnership with your school.
