Collective Pandemic Experience: SHS-Ateneo de Cebu and St. Aloysius Gonzaga Technical School Video Conference Initiative

Covid 19 has changed the Earth’s landscape, for one, it has isolated us for fear of virus infection and contamination. Despite the barriers brought about by the pandemic, the desire to establish connection has continue to ignite as these two institution explored possibilities for interactions.

Last February 2021, two Jesuit schools Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Junior High Department in Philippines, and St. Aloysius Gonzaga Technical School (Taiwan) initiated a video conference on the theme « Collective pandemic experiences », the main aim for this video conference is to collaborate on a deeper appreciation of the English and Mandarin.

The participants in this conversation had an intimate talk on the the impact of the pandemic in their respective communities. Although the talk focused on the horrors of Covid19, the participants also saw God’s saving grace in this time of uncertainty, the participants shared that although the pandemic has limited them in some ways, it has also brought more opportunities for family bonding, self-care and participating in opportunities online.

This will just prove that God continues to walk with us every given situation. In the end, the students did not only have an opportunity to share their experiences but also gained more friends in distant shores.
