True Heart Program Update

Dear Educate Magis Community:

Greetings from Seattle and the Sacred Story Institute.

It is the week before holy week and want to give all of you a quick update on our True Heart program (see video here), our Ignatian Examen platform for teens. This week the English-speaking faculty and staff in high schools from Managua to Seattle start Week 26 of the Forty Weeks program.  Also this week in Latin America, we continue with week three with our 170 high school faculty and administrators from Argentina to Mexico who are doing the Forty Week program, Cuarenta Semanas, for our True Heart Spanish project. The Spanish language program will be called Verdadero Corazón (see video here).

We are very excited about the progress we’re making in taking the information that we have received from the English speaking faculty and staff to help shape the beta program.  My collaborator on this project is Michael Gurian of the Gurian Institute.  We have created 2/3ds of the draft program for True Heart at this point.  We’re conceiving it now as a capstone senior year experience for boy and girls that could be adaptable for younger or older audiences.  It’s a thirty-week experience that has three ten-week segments: Pilgrim, Servant & Leader.

We’re very hopeful about the dynamic of the program and look forward to getting it in the hands of teachers, students and youth ministry programs for beta testing.  If you are interesting in being a high school or even a youth ministry program that would like to beta test the English version of True Heart this coming August contact us at admin-team@sacredstory.net.  Beta testing for the Spanish version of True Heart will be in 2017. We will let all our colleagues in Latin America know the time you can sign up for that project.

We’re praying for all of you.  May you have a most blessed Holy Week and Easter Season.  You are all in our prayers.

May God watch over all of us and may Christ bring peace and mercy to our world.

Fr. Bill Watson, S.J.
