The Celebration of the Feast of St. Ignatius at our School

St. Lawrence High School celebrated the Feast of St. Ignatius on 31st of July, 2018. The prayer service took place at the school chapel, where the staff, both teaching and non-teaching had gathered. Unfortunately, the students could not participate since they are having their terminal examinations at the moment.

The prayer service began with the lighting of the lamp ceremony, followed by a short reading on the life of St. Ignatius, the Gospel Reading and the prayer of the faithful, where several prayer intentions were offered. Some of the intentions included prayer for world peace, prayer for Superior General and the Jesuit fathers and brothers all around the world, for the community of St. Lawrence and for the sick and suffering all through the world.

Prayer for Generosity
Lord, teach me to be generous,
to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to look for any reward,
save that of knowing that I do your holy will
– St. Ignatius

Our Rector, Rev. Father Joe D’souza, S.J. read out and explained St. Ignatius’ Prayer for Generosity and our Principal, Rev. Father Sebastian James, S.J. as well as our Vice-Principal for the Secondary, Rev. Father Joseph Kulandai, S.J. addressed the gathering.

The Holy Bible and the Bhagwad Gita were read by the teachers. Thereafter we had Rev Father vice principal who read the Gospel Luke chapter – 14 : 25 -33. Rev Father Principal addressed the gathering by telling them more on St.Ignatius’ life. commented Samuel Newton

The prayer service was accompanied by melodious hymns sung by the school staff choir.  The prayer service was followed by a hearty brunch at the school compound.
