Like all of our sister schools in JASBEAM, St. George’s College has heeded the call to take care of our common home through various initiatives. The mantra of reduce, reuse, recycle is often repeated in various contexts at school.

Following on from this a vibrant club, The Tree Society,  was formed in 2020. It aims to focus on one aspect of ecology, trees. The club seeks to have its members learn about the value and uses of trees, how to grow them and to spread awareness on these matters to others.

Some of the clubs’ activities are captured in the pictures below.

Hole preparation for a tree planting.

Planting complete, a senior student describes to peers how care and maintenance is to be done.

During break time students take a moment to water their recently planted tree.

Members of the Zimbabwe tree society take students on a tour of the school naming various trees and describing their natural habitat and benefit to the soil, to animals and even to humans.

Learning about trees is fun and engaging.
