Announcing the Francis Xavier Global Network Instagram Competition (October to November 2016).
Celebrate the feast of St. Francis Xavier this year in a special and meaningful way. Join this international competition open to all students, faculty and staff of our Jesuit schools in all six Jesuit Regions of the world: Africa and Madagascar, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, North America and South Asia.
To participate, you need only to do the following:
- Find the EDUCATE MAGIS map of the global network of Jesuit schools on the school campus.
- Take a creative and “out-of-the-box” photo of yourself and/or your friends in front of the map to convey any–or several–of the following messages:
(a) “No Jesuit school is an island. We belong to a worldwide network of diverse communities united by the Jesuit tradition.”
(b) “We are a worldwide community of learners, enriched by our diversity, but united by our zeal for the magis and desire to be persons for and with others.”
(c) “Jesuit students setting hearts on fire across the globe!”
(d) “Companions together working wonders for a better world!”
(e) “We’ve gone a long way, Francis Xavier!”
- Post your entry on Instagram by November 13, 2016 (That’s a Sunday!)
Make sure you add the relevant hashtag for your region: #sfxjcap2016 (Asia Pacific); sfxafrica2016; sfxeurope2016; sfxlatinamerica2016; sfxnorthamerica2016; sfxsouthasia2016.
You may use filters and Photoshop to enhance your photo as long as the students are actually photographed standing before a physical map displayed on campus and not merely added through Photoshop.
Photos will be uploaded to www.jcapedu.wordpress.com so you can see other schools’ entries here!
Five finalists will be selected from among the entries, and the winners will be announced on the feast day of St. Francis Xavier on December 03. The winning school and students will be featured in Educate Magis and will receive a special prize.
Come and join us in this one-of-a-kind competition! Together let’s celebrate the life of Francis Xavier and the growing global network of Jesuit schools all over the world!
