Rebecca: tailor in motion (JRS Series #12)

“When you’re called a #refugee, most people don’t understand. Even for us, the word ‘refugee’ sounds bad. If (my home) DRC had peace at the time, I would not have left it. It is a country that I love, where I had a beautiful life. I had a home, I had no problems, and I didn’t have to pay rent. I would recommend my refugee friends to go to school. It will help them in many ways. For example, when I took that class it has helped me overcome some problems. For example, I know now I will not starve and whenever the landlord asks for money I can easily give him a specific date and work hard to pay,” said Rebecca, a Congolese refugee living in #Kampala and working as a tailor.

The #JRS #MercyinMotion campaign aims to provide 240,000 refugee children and youth with access to education by the year 2020. The campaign was launched on 8 December 2015 with the Holy Year of Mercy.
