Opening of two Principal positions!

Jesuit Education Australia is a work of the Society of Jesus and has announced its search for Principal at Saint Ignatius’ College, Adelaide, South Australia. This coeducational college was founded by the Jesuits in 1951. Jesuit Education Australia, has also been working with St Ignatius of Loyola College, a companion school in Auckland, New Zealand, who are recruiting for a foundation Principal/Tumuaki.

Principal – Saint Ignatius’ College

Saint Ignatius’ College, Adelaide is a leading Catholic, co-educational, day school with approximately 1,500 students and over 200 staff across an Early Learning Centre (3 and 4 year olds) and Junior Campus (R-6) at Norwood and a Senior Campus (7-12) at Athelstone.

Established in 1951 by the Jesuits, the College is part of the Jesuit Education Australia (JEA) network with the Ignatian ethos inspiring all that it does. The mission of the College is to provide a quality education that encourages students to a life-long development of their faith and service. It aims to produce people of conscience, compassion, competence and commitment to make the world a better place. After 28 years of dedicated service to the College, the current Principal and Chief Executive Officer, Peter Coffey, is retiring at the end of 2022. The College Board therefore invites applications from appropriately qualified and experienced candidates to fill this important position.

As the Principal and CEO of the College, the successful applicant will be an outstanding educational leader providing a dynamic vision for teaching and learning that takes the school into the future. He or she will bring expertise, enthusiasm, and a desire to nurture an educational community which is learner-centred, reflection-driven, and action-oriented. A role model for staff and students, the applicant will demonstrate the energy, engagement and capacity to seek excellence; he or she will motivate, inspire and give witness to a faith that does justice for all members of the College community. The Principal works with the College Rector in a dual leadership model. As a leader within the Australian Jesuit education ministry, the new Principal will be a committed Catholic with a desire to embrace and draw upon the rich tradition of Ignatian spirituality to enhance and reinforce the College’s strategic and operational management.

Foundation Principal /Tumuaki –  St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic College

The opening of St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic College in 2024 provides a unique opportunity for the Foundation Principal to lead this Year7-13 co-educational Catholic state integrated school. Situated in the Franklin Region of Auckland at Drury this Ignatian College will be part of the network of Auckland Catholic Schools and additionally part of the Australian Jesuit’s school network which reflects the vision of St Ignatius of Loyola.

The Foundation Principal will be a passionate and future focused leader committed to a culture of excellence, giving effect to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, truly committed to the holistic development of each student, a caring and critical thinker, with the pervading philosophy of finding God in all things.

We are seeking a committed and experienced Senior Leader who will alongside the Establishment Board create a culture and pedagogy that promotes development of students of conscience, competence, compassion and commitment.

They will –

» Be an engaging leader with proven capacity to work collaboratively with whanau, hapu and iwi.
» Celebrate diversity and value inclusiveness.
» Be an experienced and dynamic educator with a deep understanding of effective pedagogy.

A willingness and ability to take part in religious instruction appropriate to the Special Character of the school shall be a condition of appointment.
