Mebrahtu – Artist in Motion (JRS Series #4)

Halfway through 2016, nearly 3,000 people are known to have died in the #Mediterranean. An unknown number have perished in African deserts.

Many of these people are Eritreans.

Mebrahtu, an art teacher from Eritrea in Mai Aini refugee camp, uses art to raise awareness in the camp and to prevent others from embarking in tragic journeys.

In his paintings and in those of his students are clearly told refugees’ ordeal, pain and hopes.

The #JRS #MercyinMotion campaign aims to provide 240,000 refugee children and youth with access to education by the year 2020. The campaign was launched on 8 December 2015 with the Holy Year of Mercy.
