JESEDU-Global2021 Will Be a Truly Global and Productive Online Experience

Throughout these past months the Colloquium organising Committee and many other collaborators have been working to make sure that the II Colloquium JESEDU-Global 2021 provides a fully online quality experience for all attendees.

«We want the experience to be truly global and productive, but at the same time engaging without being too demanding on the time and energy of the attendees.»

The Colloquium will offer a mix of synchronous & asynchronous online experiences, to which all attendees are expected to participate. Here is a summary of the II Colloquium JESEDU-Global2021 experience. If you would like to read more details about the different experiences and events that will take place at this global gathering we invite you to visit the new section «Experience» on the II Colloquium JESEDU-Global 2021 site.

The asynchronous session (self-scheduled) is titled Pre-Colloquium Reflection and Conversations (15th May to 28 June). Prior to the Opening Ceremony the Colloquium attendees will already be invited to participate in the asynchronous Reflection Modules by watching pre-recorded Keynote Addresses for the four strands: Educating for Faith, Educating for Depth, Educating for Reconciliation and Educating for Global Citizenship, and engaging in online conversations prepared after each keynote. The Colloquium has a distinguished line-up of Keynote Speakers who have been carefully selected for their experience and specialization. These pre-recorded talks will be available on Educate Magis.

The synchronous sessions (real-time) will take place for the Opening Ceremony, the Discernment Circles, the Closing Ceremony, and Regional Conversations.

In the Opening Ceremony (28th June, Monday, 13:00 GMT) the Colloquium participants will be welcomed officially by the Worldwide Jesuit Education Secretary, Fr. Jose Alberto Mesa SJ, who will explain the purpose of this global gathering. After the Opening Ceremony, every participant is expected to attend one of the Discernment Circles (28th June to 1st July) as an opportunity for a smaller-group discussion with colleagues from other regions. Each delegate will be assigned to a Discernment Circle that will meet only once sometime during the week of the Colloquium. The purpose is to provide delegates an opportunity to exchange ideas and sentiments about the Keynotes as well as their own experiences with fellow Ignatian educators from different parts of the world.

There will be a Closing Ceremony (2nd July, Friday, at 13:00 GMT) where the collated fruits of the reflection and conversations from the Reflection Modules and Discernment Circles will be synthesized, and presented in preparation for the Regional Conversations to be held after the Colloquium. Fr. General, the Rev. Fr. Arturo Sosa SJ, has been invited to grace both ceremonies.

After the Closing Ceremony the Colloquium participants will gather in their regional groups to take part in the Regional Conversations (2 July to 16 July). These Regional Conversations, will provide the attendees an opportunity to discuss follow-up courses of action and/or regional collaborations resulting from what has been discussed and learned in the Colloquium.
