Invitation to Participate in Literary Skull 2021

To Celebrate the feast of the All Saints’ Day and All the Faithful Departed, to maintain the Mexican tradition and to create a space for integration among our community «Preparatoria Loyola» school in Mexico, through the Academic Coordination, and the Language Coordination of the Loyola Educational System, invites the Global Community of Educate Magis to participate in the Publication of Literary Skull 2021

Here are the guidelines for participation.

  • All students enrolled in the 2021-2022 school year at High School Level of which the institution is part of the global community Educate Magis, will be able to participate.
  • Participation will be done individually, with a maximum of three skulls per institution.
  • The subject of the skull is Ignacio de Loyola and the Ignatian year.
  • The compositions must be unpublished and have a minimum of eight stanzas and a maximum of twelve. The stanzas (poetic verses) can be from 4 to 7 lines each.
  • It must have the characteristics of the traditional Mexican literary skull: rhyme, coherence, poetic structure and creative irreverence with the central idea alluding to the day of the dead.
  • The skulls must be written in a text file with the following requirements: 12 point Arial font, 1.5 spacing.
  • Works that do not follow the specifications described will not be considered for publication.
  • The contest may be declared void if the submitted works do not meet the quality criteria indicated.
  • The ten best skulls will be published on the social networks of Prepa Loyola on November 1, 2021 and in its electronic magazine El Puente.
  • The deadline for submitting papers will be October 22 at 2:00 p.m. Participants will need to send their papers to the email address, lourdes.arreola@loyola.edu.mx , according to the following requirements: A spreadsheet with the information of the submitted assignments: student’s name, name of the school, grade level, country. One file for each participating skull in PDF format.

Evaluation:

The criteria to be evaluated for the selection of the published skulls will be:

  • Creativity/Style and Originality
  • Clarity of language
  • Coherence of form and structure (harmony of words, presentation)
  • Adequacy to the subject

The jury that will determine the skulls to be published will be made up of experts in the field of Reading and Writing Workshop or Literary Creation who collaborate in the Loyola del Pacífico Educational System.

The works will be evaluated in strict adherence to the call.

The ten best skulls will be published.

Cases not provided for in this call will be resolved by the Organizing Committee.
