Keynote presentation by Fr John Guiney SJ at Webinar #4 on Global Identifier #2 on Safeguarding. Fr Guiney was appointed by Father General to the post of Global Coordinator in the Society of Jesus for the ‘Promotion of a Consistent Culture of Protection Project’. The project goal is to map and assess the current situation of safeguarding and protection across the whole Society of Jesus and also to promote prevention and assist in the development of appropriate guidelines, protocols, and ongoing formation in this area.  The project has already produced 3 reports on the ongoing situation of safeguarding in the Society of Jesus and has just completed an audit in Provinces of three basic standards of protection – policies, training/formation, and protocols in dealing with complaints. Fr. John says that “The promotion of a consistent culture of protection” is a work of justice and is part and parcel of Universal Apostolic Preference No 2.
