Cura Personalis: Some Ignatian Inspirations

Staff Formation, Ignatian Spirituality
By Barton T. Geger, SJ
Feb 22nd, 2018

In this essay Barton T. Geger, SJ  provides a brief history of the term cura personalis, and point to some early Jesuit sources that can enrich our understanding of it. In the process, some potential misapplications of the term will also come to light.

Next to the History of the term, three major areas are discussed:

  • Care of Faculty and Staff: “Discrete Charity”
  • Care of Administrators: “The Ignatian Presupposition”
  • Care of Students: “Spiritual Conversations”
