We Care Week at St Aloysius College Primary School

Every year, at St Aloysius College Primary School, the staff and students are involved in a week of activities, revolving around the importance of reaching out to others and contributing to their community.

This year’s theme, Journeying Together, focused on the beauty of working and living together in the best way possible. During We Care Week’ students and staff could come together to experience ‘journeying’ through acting for others.

Each class was assigned a special task: that of expressing appreciation and support of their immediate community’s work. Healthcare frontliners, Malta Post posties, garbage collectors, the Police Force and Puttinu care staff were among those who received heartfelt messages, in the form of cards, original poems, and video clips, with many extending their appreciation on Facebook.

Helping out ‘as men and women for others’ is central to our college’s ethos, the children’s formation and the well-being of others. By journeying together, students are together with themselves and others in their community. Lockdown and all, they have learned the value of recognising the love other people have and share, and that as children, they still have the power to help out.
