Teachers Share Their Experiences After Using “Who Do You Want to Be?” as a Resource to Accompany their Students During the Lenten Season

This year, many teachers from our Jesuit Global Network of Schools included “Who Do You Want to Be?” as a resource to accompany their students during the Lenten season.

“Who Do You Want to Be?” is a video series designed during the Ignatian Year by the General Curia of the Society of Jesus and promoted in collaboration with Educate Magis, which includes four videos and pedagogical materials for schools, to guide students on a reflective journey on their relationship with God, with their neighbor, and with the Earth; and to consider ways they can better serve each of these.

In this article, we are delighted to share the beautiful pictures and experiences shared by teachers from some of the participating schools, such as “Colegio Inmaculada” school in Santa Fe, Argentina; Loyola Jesuit Secondary School in Zimbabwe; St Georges College in Zimbabwe; “San Bartolomé La Merced” school in Bogotá, Colombia; “Colegio San Roque González de Santa Cruz” school in Paraguarí, Paraguay; and from St Joseph’s school in Bangalore, India.

We invite you to see the pictures shared by the teachers in this photo album “Who do you want to be?” Lent 2023. Below you can read the experience behind the pictures.

“Loyola Jesuit Secondary School adopted the Lenten project as indicated in the four series video. We started in Ash Wednesday by watching Fr Arturo’s remarks and followed with the video for week 1. After watching the first video on “Showing the Way to God”, using the lesson plan provided, the students went into their respective classes and reflected on the theme.” Tafumanie Chikanya, Zimbabwe. To read more please follow this link Loyola Jesuit Secondary School in Zimbabwe adopted the Lenten project “Who do you want to be” as part of their Lenten experience – Educate Magis

“At St Georges College we used both the videos and the lesson materials shared with us. The materials were well received by all students particularly those in the sixth form. We also shared the video links with the rest of the students on Google classroom for them to share with their families.” Mr N Vengayi, India

“From “Colegio San Roque González de Santa Cruz”, Paraguarí, Paraguay, member of ACESIP and FLACSI, we share pictures from students holding up a poster with a message that captures the fruit of the spiritual conversation in a sentence by way of illustration”. Marcos Barrios

“From “Colegio San Bartolomé La Merced” school, we sent photos of the spiritual conversation on the Care of the Common Home: How do we teenagers disconnect and connect with creation, how do we relate the SDGs to the characteristics of the Kingdom of God?” Mario Insuasty

Also, Claudia Andrade Núñez, L1-Acompañante 3D, from “Colegio San Bartolomé La Merced” school shared this lovely summary of how “Who Do You Want to Be?” was integrated in their Lenten celebrations.

Also, some students shared their experience via the following videos.
