This is Passion and Holy Week. These Paintings, created by Roy M. Thottam SJ (Kerala Province), reflect the journey of Jesus to Calvary and to the Easter Glory.  Fr. Roy says, “Painting is an inner journey for me. It is a spiritual process. Every artwork is a meditation on the mysteries of life in the context of socio political and religious realities and personal experiences. It is an inner pilgrimage through the path of confusions, doubts, memories, struggles, faith, values and passions”.  Every painting is prophetic, critique of the dehumanizing ways and systems; and affirmation of a counter culture and the values of the ‘Kingdom of God’. To send light in the depth of human hearts is the Artist’s vocation’.

You may have your own ways of expressing your experience of the Holy Week. It is an intense experience to prayerfully meditate or contemplate on the Stations of the Cross. Here you will find paintings on some important moments of the Journey of Christ, the visible image of Truth, Justice and Peace, unjustly punished, but ultimately Truth Triumphs, Peace is restored, Justice is maintained by Jesus’ resurrection from death.
