It is a wonderful occasion to mark a great commitment to the education project of the Jesuit Mission in Cambodia to the youth of Cambodia.” Fr Quyen Vu SJ, XJS Director
It was on a breezy Saturday morning that the official inauguration of the Xavier Jesuit School project took place. It was a historic day in the school’s lifetime and highlighted the hard work and dedication of many people, from near and far.
The primary and secondary school students lined the entrance waving Cambodian flags to welcome the large number of guests that came to join in the celebration. We also welcomed the deputy Minister of Education Mr.Hieng Sine, the distinguished members of the Jesuit community, the various church communities, members of our school community of staff and parents, other schools in the area along with some of the generous donors and members of the local community.
The ceremony included speeches of congratulations to all those involved in the school, past and present and words of inspiration to our students. There was a beautiful performance of Khmer dancing, a joyful rendition of “Doe a deer” with instrumental accompaniment by our grade 7 and 8 students, the official ribbon cutting ceremony and several distinguished guests were invited to plant trees on the campus.
The official inauguration on December 3rd was a celebration of the steps on the journey of daring ”to dream of a brighter future” for the Cambodian people.
