Sports Day at St. Xavier’s Godavari School is a platform to showcase the talent and efforts put in by the student to make it a successful event. Sports here at SXG is not only about competition, it is also about having fun , being physically active , learning the basics of sports and building coordination and teamwork and so to give the students an opportunity to display their talent, self-confidence, patience, zeal and sportsmanship.

The two- day Sports Day celebrations for seniors and juniors were held at the school on 4th and 5th November 2018 respectively. The day began with a march past presented by the students of all six teams- Lions, Tigers, Leopards, Panthers and Jaguar.

More than 1100 students participated in the customized and fun-filled track and field events such as 100 meter dash, 4 x 100 meter relay, obstacle race, mini cross country, skin the snake, treasure hunt, sack race, long jump, high jump, medley relay, interschool relay, musical chair, shot put, javelin, cock fight, balloon bursting, three-legged race, PT display and pyramid formation. Parents too participated in the 4 x 100 m enthusiastically to mark the sports day.

The chief guest for the Sports Day on 4th November was Mr. Nawaraj Silwal, the Member of Parliament and former DIG of Nepal Police. He highlighted that the students must spend time outdoors which gives them opportunity to learn from their surroundings and to enrich themselves. Likewise, on 5th November, the chief guest, Mr. Gajendra Maharjan, the Municipality Mayer highly appreciated each sports star and applauded the visionary element of the school which nurtures and develops their potential in the sports field.

The young achievers were awarded best athletes from different categories. The team Jaguars lifted up the Champions Trophy.

The sports days filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish. The school Principal Fr. Samuel Simick, SJ appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation in the sports day programmes. He also thanked the school staff for the meticulous planning and execution of the sports day events.
