Celebration of 50th Year of “Persons for Others” (Nov 9th)
Welcome to the dedicated page for our Global Discernment Circles for “Persons for Others”. On Nov 9th we will host a Global Online Event to Celebrate the 50th year of Pedro Arrupe’s “Persons for Others”.
It is 50 years ago that Pedro Arrupe, the then Superior General of the Society of Jesus, gave his seminal address “Men and Women for Others” at the 10th International Congress of Jesuit Alumni of Europe which took place in 1973, from July 29th to August 1st, in Valencia, Spain.
This speech was pivotal, as it initiated the process of reflection and self-evaluation that led to the renewal of Jesuit education globally.
Celebrate this important milestone by participating in this Global Online Event!
During these 90-minute DIscernment Circles, Education Delegates, School Presidents and Principals, Board Members, Teachers, Pastoral Agents, and any other Staff members of Jesuit schools worldwide who wish to participate will engage in prayerful sharing and listening around Arrupe’s message and our vision of Jesuit education today with other members of the Jesuit Global Schools Network.
Participants who register will be invited to reflect on Arrupe’s message and on their own experience as Ignatian educators in preparation of the Discernment Circles which will take place on November 9th. During the live zoom session participants will have the opportunity to share with and listen to colleagues from different parts of the world in the language they choose (English, French or Spanish).
