On  April 29, 2016 at the LUMSA University in Rome, Fr Thomas H Smolich SJ, International Director of the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) participated on a panel discussion on the theme “Helping refugees to start over”  hosted by Rotary International. Fr Smolich spoke alongside Carlotta Sami, Spokeswoman of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees office for Southern Europe, and John Hewko and K.R. Ravindran, General Secretary and President of Rotary International respectively.
